Top 10 Most loved programming languages

We all know that for almost a decade, Stack Overflow’s annual Developer Survey held the honor of being the largest survey of people who code around the world. This year, rather than aiming to be the biggest, we set out to make our survey more representative of the diversity of programmers worldwide. This year’s survey was taken by nearly 65,000 people and that is a big ,very big number from programmer's perspective . This survey was done on various social media platform .

So this post is all about the most loved programming language in the world .

In this survey they included the developers who are developing with the language or technology and have expressed interest in continuing to develop with it .

After a consistent rise over the last five years, Python fell from second last year to third this year on the list of most loved technologies, being beat out by TypeScript. Rust held the top spot for most loved technology for the fifth year in a row.


1. Rust :

Rust has secured the first rank in this survey with 86.1 % votes and became the most loved programming language of the year . It was developed in 2006  by the Mozilla employee Graydon Hoare then it was adopted by the Mozilla  in 2009 . It is nothing but  the perfect combination of C++ and Java. .




2. TypeScript



TypeScript has secured the second rank in this survey with 67.1 % votes and became the second most loved programming language of the year . It was developed in 2012 and maintained by the Microsoft since then . TypeScript originated from the shortcomings of JavaScript for the development of large-scale applications both at Microsoft and among their external customers.



3. Python

Last year it was on the second position but now it has dropped to rank 3 . 66.7 % programmers voted python for the most loved programming language . It was developed by the guido van rossum in 1990 thirty years ago . Python is dynamically-typed and garbage-collected. It supports multiple programming paradigms, including structured (particularly, procedural), object-oriented and functional programming. Python is often described as a "batteries included" language due to its comprehensive standard library.


4. Kotlin

On 7 May 2019, Google announced that the Kotlin programming language is now its preferred language for Android app developers and this tells you the popularity of this programming language .
Kotlin has secured the fourth rank in this survey with 62.9 % votes and became the fourth most loved programming language of the year . It was developed in  July 2011 and maintained by the Jetbrains since then .


5. Go

Go has secured the fifth rank in this survey with 62.3 % votes and became the fifth most loved programming language of the year . Go was designed at Google in 2007 to improve programming productivity in an era of multicore, networked machines and large codebases. Go was publicly announced in November 2009, and version 1.0 was released in March 2012. Go is widely used in production at Google and in many other organizations and open-source projects. 


6. Julia

Julia has secured the sixth rank in this survey with 62.2% votes and became the sixth most loved programming language of the year . Julia was developed in 2012 . It is a high-level, high-performance, dynamic programming language. While it is a general-purpose language and can be used to write any application .



7. Dart

Dart has secured the seventh rank in this survey with 62.1% votes and became the seventh most loved programming language of the year . Dart was developed in 2011 . It  is a programming language designed by the Google  for client development, such as for the web and mobile apps. It can also be used to build server and desktop applications.


8. C#

C# has secured the eighth rank in this survey with 59.7% votes and became the seventh most loved programming language of the year . Dart was developed in 2011 . C# was developed around 2000 by Microsoft as part of its .NET initiative and later approved as an international standard by Ecma  in 2002 . It was designed by Anders Hejlsberg.


9. Swift

Swift has secured the ninth rank in this survey with 59.5% votes and became the ninth most loved programming language of the year . Swift was developed in 2014 . First released in 2014, Swift was developed as a replacement for Apple's earlier programming language Objective-C.



10. JavaScript

Javascript has secured the tenth rank in this survey with 58.3% votes and became the tenth most loved programming language of the year . Dart was developed in 1995. Alongside HTML and CSS, JavaScript is one of the core technologies of the World Wide Web. Over 97% of websites use it client-side for web page behavior, often incorporating third-party libraries. All major web browsers have a dedicated JavaScript engine to execute the code on the user's device.
